A caretaker of a colony of
cats called upon All About
Spay Neuter to tell us that
one of her cats' "face was
hanging off".  The cat was
trapped the next day and
brought to Dr. R. Feinsod,
Howard Beach Animal
Clinic.  This is the side of
the cats face and neck.
This picture depicts the size
and severity of the wound.
The wound was cleaned out
and at the same time, the cat
was neutered.
The cat was stitched and
stapled together from its left
eye all the way to it
shoulder.   A drain was
inserted so that the
infection could drain.  The
cat was on a strong
antibiotic to fight the
infection.  He needed four
other surgeries to assist in
his healing.
Here is Scarface, three days
after surgery.  He was eating
well and resting comfortably.
An incredible thanks to Dr.
Feinsod for treating him with
the dignity he deserved. It
was a long recovery for
Scarface, but  within four
months he was able to
return to his colony.
One week after surgery
Scarface's draining tube was
removed and after four more
surgeries to clean out the
infection and stitching the
wound closer and closer
together, Scarface looks like
he is almost healed.
And here is Scarface 4 months
after his initial surgery, totally
healed, neutered, ear tipped, and
vaccinated ready to return to his
home.  Caretakers tell us that the
day after he returned he was
strutting around the grounds like
he had never left.
